Energy and energy efficiency
PENRA continues its efforts to ensure a sustainable and efficient energy sector that is able to achieve the goals of the energy sector in Palestine and to provide modern, efficient and clean energy of high quality, so that it is available to all segments of society, including the marginalized and the poor. To achieve this, PENRA launched a project called: Strengthening the Institutional Capacities of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority and the Palestinian Electricity Sector Regulatory Council “twinning”, which is funded by the European Union. The project aims at supporting the energy sector in Palestine to ensure access to modern, efficient, sustainable and affordable energy for all to meet the needs of citizens in Palestine, including marginalized groups. This will be done by raising the efficiency of institutions operating in the energy sector in Palestine and enhancing their capabilities in the framework of drawing up policies, structures and regulatory laws, and preparing administrative, financial and technical plans. In addition to the exchange and transfer of experiences from the European Union institutions regulating the energy sector in the three countries (Slovakia, Italy and Greece) to the Palestinian institutions working in the energy sector. Accordingly, training courses will be held by experts in partner institutions from the European Union for the staff working in the energy sector institutions in Palestine. It is worth mentioning that the project is funded by the European Union and will be implemented over a period of 27 months.
In the context of projects to enhance energy efficiency, a project to supply, install and train an integrated management system (IMS) for electricity distribution companies in the West Bank existed. This project is to provide an integrated management system for electricity distribution companies in the West Bank, including the supply, installation, training, customization and integration with the old systems of management information systems to ensure the continuity of the operation of the substation and thus provide electricity to subscribers.
